How to Check and Improve Password Strength
Use the Password Strength Checker to evaluate a password's entropy and get actionable improvement suggestions.
Tool Used
Password Strength Checker
Enter your password
Type or paste the password into the input field. Analysis happens entirely in the browser — the password is never transmitted to any server.
Read the strength meter and entropy
The meter rates the password from Weak to Very Strong and shows the entropy in bits. Aim for at least 'Strong' with 60 or more bits of entropy for general accounts.
Review the checklist
Length is the most important factor — each extra character exponentially increases the search space. Target 16 or more characters for any account with sensitive data.
Check the crack time estimate
The estimate shows how long an offline brute-force attack against a fast hash (like MD5) would take. Aim for at least centuries at fast-hash speed.
Follow improvement suggestions
Add length, mix character types (uppercase, numbers, symbols), and avoid dictionary words, keyboard patterns like 'qwerty', and common substitutions like '@' for 'a'.
All done!
You are ready to use Password Strength Checker like a pro.
