How to Document a Power Automate Flow with FlowDoc Pro
Generate professional documentation, diagrams, and runbooks for your Power Automate flows entirely in the browser — no data ever leaves your machine.
Tool Used
FlowDoc Pro
Export your flow JSON from Power Automate
Open your cloud flow in the Power Automate designer. Go to the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top right corner and choose Export → Package (.zip). Extract the ZIP and locate the JSON file inside the manifest or workflow folder. This is the raw flow definition you will feed into FlowDoc Pro.
Open FlowDoc Pro
Navigate to devhexlab.com/flowdoc-pro. The tool runs entirely in your browser — no login, no upload to any server. Your flow data never leaves your machine.
Paste or load your flow JSON
Click the upload area or drag-and-drop your exported JSON file. Alternatively, open the JSON in any text editor, copy the entire content, and paste it into the input panel. FlowDoc Pro validates the structure and displays a summary of actions found.
Choose your output type
Select what you need to generate: Flow Documentation (full written description of every action), Diagram (visual flowchart of the logic), Runbook (operational guide for support teams), Handover Checklist (for transitioning ownership), or Exportable Report (combined PDF-ready summary). You can generate multiple output types at once.
Review and customise the output
Read through the generated documentation. Each action is described in plain English with its trigger, conditions, and connections noted. You can edit inline before exporting to catch any flow-specific context FlowDoc Pro cannot infer automatically.
Export your documentation
Click Export to download the documentation as a Markdown file, HTML page, or formatted report depending on the output type selected. Share it with your team, attach it to a Confluence page, or include it in a handover pack.
All done!
You are ready to use FlowDoc Pro like a pro.
